What Happens if an Applicant Applies Twice?
Let’s get straight to it. If you’re integrated with an ATS (like Greenhouse or Lever), you might wonder, “What happens when an applicant applies more than once?” It’s a fair question, and one that’s becoming increasingly common in today’s job market.

The good news is that Talent Llama has safeguards in place to prevent duplicate launches. Now, we can't promise it will work every time (and we'll explain why below), but we'll definitely stop the vast majority of cases. In fact, it's extremely unlikely there will be any duplicate launches at all!
How It Works
Whether you're adding applicants manually, or they're being received directly from your ATS, we're scanning for number of things - most importantly the email.
- If the applicant’s email address matches one already in the system, a new launch will not occur.
- If the email doesn’t match but the phone number does, the same rule applies: it will not launch again. (If no phone number is provided, a new launch will occur.)
- If the name differs but the email matches, Talent Llama will update the name to the most recently received version, but the interview status will remain unchanged, and it will not launch again.
- If the name and email differs, and there is nothing else to match, the applicant will launch again.
Long story short, the majority of checks begin and end with the email address.
