Campaign Versions
Talent Llama makes it easy to evolve your Campaigns as your hiring needs change, all while keeping your data, results, and fairness intact and within a single Campaign.
Once a Campaign has live interviews running, Talent Llama automatically locks the Outline to protect consistency across applicants. With Campaign Versioning, you can refine and enhance your interviews safely inside the same Campaign, without affecting applicant data.
Whether you’re updating questions, adjusting Topics, or experimenting with new ideas, each change is captured as its own version, keeping every applicant connected to the exact interview they experienced, and your results crystal clear.

Versioning vs Cloning
Cloning creates an entirely new Campaign, disconnected from the original. It’s best used when you’re hiring for a new role or want to build something completely different.
Versioning keeps everything in one place. You can edit the interview, test your changes, and promote a new version, all while preserving your historical data and results.
Think of Cloning as starting over, and Versioning as evolving your existing Campaign.
Creating a New Version
Step 1: From your Dashboard, click into a Campaign that already has results. Click on the Interview Tab on the left. You’ll notice that the Outline and Topics are locked.
Step 2: In the top-right corner, select New Version. You can add a label (for example, “V2 – Updated Interview” or “V3 – Revised Topics”) to help identify the changes later.

Once created, you’re free to edit the Outline, Topics, and Minimum Qualifications exactly as you would when building a new Campaign.
Note: When you click Create New Version:
- A new campaign version is created as draft
- All settings are copied from the current version
- You can make changes without affecting active interviews
- Activate when ready to use for new interviews
Step 3: When you’re ready, click Promote to Current in the top right of the Interview (or Results) Tab. From that point forward, any new applicants who start the interview will automatically receive the updated version.
Applicants who began their interview on the previous version will continue with that version, ensuring data remains fair and accurate.

Note: Results from each version are completely separate, so your reporting will always reflect which interview each candidate completed.
Review Results by Version
To view or compare versions, open the Campaign, click Results in the left-hand menu.
At the top of the Results page, you’ll see each version listed with its label, creation date, and who made the update in the top right by clicking the Version dropdown.

This keeps results for each version separate, ensuring fairness for all applicants, and makes it simple to switch between results for each version.
Best Practice Suggestions
While Versioning is a great solution, and we recognize that you probably will find the need to create a new Version at some point, we recommend:
- Avoid unnecessary edits. Group multiple changes together to minimize clutter.
- Test before promoting. Always run a quick test interview before activating a new version.
- Keep notes. Use version labels to record what changed and why.
