Adding a Custom Domain

Adding your Custom Domain let's Talent Llama send candidate emails directly from your company’s address, not ours. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference. Candidates instantly recognize your domain, trust the message, and are far more likely to complete their interview.


Most candidates don’t know what Talent Llama is (yet 😉). Seeing an invite from @yourcompany.com instead of @talentllama.com immediately builds confidence. It tells them this is legit, part of your process, and worth completing.


Where to Find It


In the bottom-left corner, click the three dots ( ), select Admin, then click Domains.

You’ll land on the Domains screen, where you can add and, later on, verify your custom domain.


Adding Your Domain

Click + Add Domain and enter your domain in plain format (Don’t include “https://” or “www.”).

For example yourcompany.com then click Add. Best practice here is to use whatever your recruitment email ends with, after the @ symbol.

Once saved, you’ll see a set of DNS records. Click Copy Instructions.

These records need to be added by someone with DNS access, usually your IT or DevOps team. You can copy the full setup instructions and paste them into an IT request or forward via email.


Tip: Offer to loop in your Talent Llama Customer Success Manager on that email thread. It helps if the IT team asks, “What on Earth is Talent Llama?”


Verifying Your Domain

After your IT team updates the DNS records, return to the Domains screen, and click Edit on your Domain.

Then click Verify DNS Records.

Sometimes DNS propagation takes a while. If verification fails, double-check that all records were added correctly. If they were just updated, wait a bit, old records can take time to expire.

Once verified, your domain will appear under the Email From section of your branding settings.


Once verified, every candidate email sent through Talent Llama, from invites to reminders, will appear to come directly from your company. It’s a subtle change, but it dramatically improves trust, deliverability, and completion rates.


Set it up once, and your candidate experience will immediately feel more personal, professional, and aligned with your brand.




FAQs

Q: Can I have multiple Custom Domains?

A: Yes! We understand some companies have multiple brands, or even multiple internal brands. We allow multiple branding setups, and multiple custom domains.


Q: What if there is a delay?

A: DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours to propagate, and old DNS entries sometimes linger. If verification fails, wait and retry. Let us know if it's still not verifying correctly.


Q: What happens if there is a typo in my DNS Records?

A: Even a small copy-paste error in the record can block verification. Using our Copy buttons are your best bet to ensure no errors are present.
